Pop’s Policies On LGBTQ
I am Supraipon Chuaychoo, or simply Pop.
Since I was eight, I knew I was gay. I have been gay all along and proud of it. However, I know that our global gay and the overall LGBTQ fellows are not always in a situation where they are treated as “normal”.
As a candidate of my party in Bangkok’s District of Bangkhunthien, and an openly gay one at that, I am determined to start proposing and implementing my policies on LGBTQ right here, with a hope that they will be spread throughout Thailand and perhaps the world.
Here are some of the thoughts:
1. I will support all the measures to educate, self-study, and enhance the understanding of the LGBTQ issues in Thailand. Most people here, while nicely tolerant, are still with little knowledge and understanding. Prejudices and biases are still way too easy to flare up.
2. Engage millions of the members of LGBTQ communities in Thailand into the realm of public policy.
3. I will find a way to build the so-called “emergency houses” to provide sanctuary for members of LGBTQ who must flee their original places for safety and better reception of who they are. Such members are still bullied, hurt, attacked, and even killed in certain circumstances.
4. We will set up and budget for more and deeper research works on LGBTQ issues. An academic approach is crucial in articulating for better policies and implementation.
5. I will work along with international movements, organizations, groups, and even individuals of the global LGBTQ community to attain a larger international cooperation and effort to help out our members. Thailand must improve its standing in terms of true progressive policies, human rights, and standard practices.
